Bad Times

I have been thinking about this for quite some time, but I think I have the means and the will to do it. I’m going to set myself a dead line of one month to write and record a punk album. Its funny that I already have a whole album of this kind of stuff (more poppy, less punky, really) already written and recorded. It sounds great, but I’m still not sure about some of the material on there. Some of the songs I really like, some I don’t. Anyways, that has nothing to do with this project.

Here are the rules I am setting for myself:
1. It has to be a minimum of 15 minutes long, no matter how many tracks it ends up being.
2. Only one cover song is allowed (I already have the song picked out).
3. A maximum of 2 of my older songs can be reworked into this album, however none of the songs can be from my shelved Post Punk Depression album.
4. My deadline is April 4th, 2010.

I don’t know how I’m going to release it. I’ll probably just put it all online for free. It will be a Bad Times album.

It’s been way too long since I updated this thing.

I have been really busy doing theater work, and going on tour as naxat, but I will return to the Bad Times material soon.  I need to put together a solid live line-up, and finish mixing the album, since its all recorded.

We’re not dead! WE WILL SAVE POWER POP! It is my sworn duty to keep no-budget rock and roll alive and not shitty!

No word back from Jay Reatard on whether or not we can use “bad times’ as a band name… here’s a video from our show @ The Handsome Kitten in case you missed us… which you did.

So it turns out, BAD TIMES as a band name, was previously used by prolific song-writing brah Jay Reatard. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jay_Reatard#The_Bad_Times . Now, according do this article (and wikipedia is NEVER wrong), they released ONE album in 2001, played one show, and never played again.

This pisses me off to no end. It took me TOO LONG to come up with a band name that is as simple as BAD TIMES. With as many bands as there are now, I am guessing within five years, band names are going to be very long and worse than they are now. And I can’t come up with something simple like BAD TIMES that hasn’t been used.

Now I’m sitting on an album with no band name.

Goddamn it.

We don’t gig very much these days.

Not a lot of news over on my end. Sorry.  The album is pretty much recorded, save for some overdubs or extra stuff I might want to add. Then it needs to be mixed, mastered and duplicated. No shows planned either. We’ll work on that too.
